Based in Réunion, Papang Films was founded in 2020 by its director, Eva Lova-Bély. It mainly produces auteur documentaries from the Indian Ocean, films that allow the filmmakers to share their sensibilities and their tender, accurate perspective on their island.

Our projects seek to highlight the cultures and artists of our islands. Faced with the wounds of history and an uncertain future, they lead us to meet these people who live and draw their inspiration from a resilient approach.

The Papangue (pronounced ‘papang’ in Réunion Creole and Malagasy) is a bird of prey with a piercing gaze. ‘Papango’ in Malagasy also means kite. Like this word shared by the people of Réunion and Madagascar, our films aim to serve as a bridge between the two islands, inviting the rest of the world to discover them.
